Who we are
At Atlantis Community Church we care about preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ by rightly handling the Word of Truth. Atlantis Community Church is a family of individuals that have found salvation in Jesus, when God saved us by His grace. And we simply want as many people as possible to experience that same free gift of salvation in Jesus Christ.
“I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: 2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.
3 For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, 4 and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.
5 As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.” -2 Timothy 4:1-5
Where we come from
Docks Mission Church was started in 1932 by John Crowe and a his mother and a few families. They wanted to reach people for Jesus Christ with the Gospel message, by holding evangelistic campaigns and outreaches to people working at Cape Town Harbour/Docks. That is where the name DOCKS MISSION CHURCH comes from.
In 1977, William Julius and his wife Francis, together with a few families planted Docks Mission Church Atlantis, today known as Atlantis Community Church. On 7 August 1977, about 50+ people attended that first Sunday service and the church grew steadily from there.
We are a multi-service, multi-generational, multi-cultural, multi-purpose church and as of recently we are an online church.
Where we’re headed
More than ever, Atlantis Community Church is committed to fostering a family built around hope. Hope for the future. Hope for better. Hope for progress. Hope in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. And as we move forward as a church family, salvation through grace by faith in Jesus Christ and belonging to a family of believers remain the foundation of who we are in Christ.
